Question 2652: Please help me understand proper order of answer. (NOt sure how to do "squared" on computer, so wrote as "^2". ?????
Example: I know that the answer to 3x(x^2-4+3x) is 3x^3+ 9x^2 + 12x and is written in descending order of x power.
But what about 5m + 4 + 2x + 4mx + 7mx. Why is answer order 5m + 11mx +2x + 4
instead of putting the mx first?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! there is no proper order of writing terms in your example... the only thing people tend to do is to write a polynomial in descending (or ascending) powers of the variable, eg x^4+x^3+x^2+x+5 for example.
Your example has m and x, so there is no "correct" order. What you say is the correct order is purely alphabetical with the constant term at the end, but writing 4 + 2x + 11mx + 5m is fine too, albeit more unusual.
