Question 24751: I am confusted with Multiplying polynomial fractions. Could you please help me with this problem?
2x^2-x-3 over 3x^2+7x+4 times 3x^2-11x-20 over 4x^2-9. When I say over I mean these are fractions. I don't know how to put fractions on this site. Thank you! Maureen Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Factor all those pieces to get the following factored forms:
[(2x-3)(x+1)]/[(3x+4)(x+1)]=(2x-3)/(3x+4) and
[(3x+4)(x-5)]/[(2x-3)(2x+3)]
Notice the common factors in the numerator and denominator.
Cancel common factors to get:
1/[(x-5)(2x+3)]
Cheers,
stan H.
