You can put this solution on YOUR website!
97 = 100/(1 + x/2)
97*(1 + x/2) = 100
97*(2 + x) = 200
194 + 97x = 200
97x = 6
x = 6/97

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Edwin's solution:

97+=+100%2F%281+%2B+x%2F2%29

Enclose both terms in parentheses:

%2897%29+=+%28100%2F%281+%2B+x%2F2%29%29

Write %2897%29 as %2897%29%2F1

%2897%2F1%29+=+%28100%2F%281+%2B+x%2F2%29%29

Multiply both sides by %281%2Bx%2F2%29%2F1

Cancel on the right:

Ignore the 1's and get:

%281%2Bx%2F2%2997+=+100

Put the 97 on the left of the parentheses:

97%281%2Bx%2F2%29+=+100

Distribute:

97%2B%2897x%29%2F2+=+100

Subtract 97 from both sides:

%2897x%29%2F2=3

Enclose both sides in parentheses:

%28%2897x%29%2F2%29=%283%29

Multiply the left side by 2%2F1 and the right
side by 2, which are the same:

%282%2F1%29%28%2897x%29%2F2%29=%282%29%283%29

%28cross%282%29%2F1%29%28%2897x%29%2Fcross%282%29%29=6

97x=6

x=6%2F97
