Question 186132: calculate the roots of solutions of the following polynomial equation by factoring it.
x3 + 3x2 = x + 3
I know that I can pull out x squared from the left side, but am not sure if that really helps. Answer by HyperBrain(694) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x3+3x2 = x+3
x3+3x2-(x+3)=0
x2(x+3)-1(x+3)=0
(x22-1)(x+3)=0
Factor x22-1:
(x+1)(x-1)(x+3)=0
::
Setting each term to zero,
x=-3
x=-1
x=1
::These are the roots.
