Divide the polynomials. Please help me with this problem because I am getting stuck on it. Thanks.
2a^2-9a-5 ÷ 2a+1=?
-------------
Do it just like long division.
2a^2/2a = a That's the first term
-------
a*(2a + 1) = 2a^2 + a
------------
2a^2- 9a-5
2a^2 + a
____ -10a-5 (subtracting gives -10a + 5)
So the 2nd term is -5
---------------
2a^2-9a-5 ÷ 2a+1 = a-5
