You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5 =-1%2F3y + 2%2F7
:
Multiply by the common multiple of the denominators, 21
21(5) = 21*-1%2F3y + 21*2%2F7
:
Cancel the denominators
105 = 7(-1y) + 3(2)
:
105 = -7y + 6
:
105 - 6 = -7y
:
99 = -7y
y = 99%2F%28-7%29
y = -141%2F7
:
:
You can check solution using -99%2F7 in the original equation
5 =%28-1%2F3%29%2A%28-99%2F7%29 + 2%2F7
5 = +33%2F7 + 2%2F7
5 = 35%2F7
