Question 106161: Hi Again,
Thanks for everyone helping me! I am stuck on this one! Here is the directions and problem: If you believe that a polynomial is not factorable, label it as prime. Show all stages of factoring separately (i.e., show the result of factoring out a GCF before taking the resulting polynomial and factoring it again.
Problem: Factor Completely x^3 – 2x^2 + 7x – 14 Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Factor Completely x^3 – 2x^2 + 7x – 14
---------
I graphed it and found a zero at x=2.
-------------
Use synthetic division to find other zeroes:
2)....1....-2....7....-14
........1....0....7....|..0
Remainder: zero
Quotient: x^2+7
--------------------
Find the zeroes of x^2+7 = 0
Factor:
(x+isqrt(7))(x-isqrt(7)) = 0
x = -isqrt(7) or x= isqrt(7) or x=2
