Question 639962: I have just started an online class dealing with math...mostly algebra & discrete math for information technology. We are currently on rule of sum & rule of product. The following is the question I must answer:
Here various extensions of the rule of product are illustrated by considering the manufacture of license plates consisting of two letters followed by four digits.

a) If no letter or digit can be repeated, there are 26 x 25 x 10 x 9 x 8 x 7=
3,276,000 different possible plates.
b) With repetitions of letters and digits allowed, 26 x 26 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 =
6,760,000 different license plates are possible.
c) If repetitions are allowed, as in part (b), how many of the plates have only vowels (A,E, I, O, U) and even digits? (0 is an even integer.)
I have read my text over & over again & still do not get this. I know this is based on positions that need to be filled to get the answer, but I just do not know how to work it & just need someone to give detailed step-by-step instructions on how to solve this. I need to know what the steps are & why each step is important to solve the problem. Thanks for all the help...I truly need it right now.
