Depends. Does order matter? Are you filling 3 sales clerk positions, so it doesn't matter which person goes in which position, or are you filling one each sales clerk, receptionist, and delivery driver position?

Update: Student clarified the question. Order does not matter.

So the answer is the number of combinations (not permutations) of 12 things taken 3 at a time.
