Question 939900: In how many ways can you have a snack if you find an apple, a banana, an orange, a chocolate bar and a cookie on the kitchen counter?
The answer is supposed to be 31 but I don't know how to get that answer.... Answer by richard1234(7193) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If you can choose any combination of snacks, you have 2^5 - 1 = 31 ways to choose a snack (you can either pick an apple or not pick an apple --> 2 choices, etc., but you want at least one snack so subtract 1).
