Question 911098: how many different ways can a psychology student select five subjects from a pool of 20 subjects and assign each one to a different experiment
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! There are 20 choices for student A, 19 for student B, 18 for C, 17 for D, 16 for E. Notice how I'm counting down because you can't assign the same experiment twice.
Multiply out the choices: 20*19*18*17*16 = 1,860,480
So there are 1,860,480 different ways to do this.
