Question 685350: I have a Problem of the Week to do (yes, I know it's Monday), and this is the problem: *How many different ways can you make change for a 50 cent piece without using pennies? (Use the four-step problem solving plan to solve.)* The four- step problem solving plan is: Explore (tell what you know and what you need to determine in the problem), Plan, Solve, and Examine (tell how you know your answer is correct). I did every part of the four-step problem solving plan except for the Examine. I can't figure out how to check my work. I would appreciate it if you would help me with this because my teacher has to teach us a lot of things, so he rarely has any time to answer questions. Again, I would be very happy if someone were to help me out!

One possibility: 4 dimes, and 2 nickels
4 dimes = 4 * .10 = $0.40
2 nickels = 2 * .05 = $0.10
$0.40 + $0.10 = $0.50
