We have to answer 10 questions. For each question, we have 4 possible answer choices. So,for the 1st question we have 4 ways to answer(either A or B or C or D), for the 2nd question we have also 4 ways to answer,for the 3rd question we have also 4 ways to answer .....and 10th question we have also 4 ways to answer).
Therefore,
=4*4*4*4*4*4*4*4*4*4
=4^10
=1,048,576
