Question 391110: How many different ways of order can four objects be lined up? Found 3 solutions by solver91311, jim_thompson5910, rfer:Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
Presuming they are 4 distinctly different objects, then there are 4 ways to pick the first object. For each of those 4 ways to pick the first object there are 3 ways to pick the second object, making a total of 12 ways to pick the first two objects, and so on times 2 then times 1.
Shorthand is 4! = 4 X 3 X 2 X 1
