There are 6 ways to toss the first die.
For each of these 6 ways there are 6 ways to toss the second die.
That's 6*6 or 36 ways to toss the first two dice.  For each of the
6*6 or 36 ways to toss the first two dice, there are 6 ways to toss the
third die.  That 6*6*6 or 35*6 or 216 possible rolls.
