There are 26 ways to pick the first card 25 ways to pick the second card, and 24 ways to pick the third card. Therefore, there are 15,600 ways.

It's obvious to YOU that the answer is 26*25*24; but for a student learning how to work this kind of problem, it probably is not.

So instead of just saying the answer is 15,600, show that the answer is 26*25*24 = 15,600.

You might even mention that the calculation is a straightforward application of the fundamental counting principle.

HELP THE STUDENT learn how to work the problem -- don't just show him the answer.
