The 1st gets 1 of 12.
Then 1 of 11, of 10, and of 9.
---> 12*11*10*9 = 11880 ways

Notice that the gifts are different !


1-st gift goes to any of 4 daughters:  4 options.

2-nd gift goes to any of 4 daughters:  4 options.

3-rd gift goes to any of 4 daughters:  4 options.

4-th gift goes to any of 4 daughters:  4 options.


 . . . and so on . . . 


12-th gift goes to any of 4 daughters:  4 options.


In all, there are  4%5E12  options.
