You can put this solution on YOUR website!
we have 2 girls for every 1 boy, the ratio is 2:1,now add the ratios of girls and boys ,so we have 2+1 = 3 shares.Divide 48/3 = 16.So each share is =16.now number of girls :16 x 2 =32 girls.and number of boys : 16 x 1 =16 boys.hope it help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +g+ = number of girls in class
Let +b+ = number of boys in class
---------------
(1) +g%2Fb+=+2%2F1+
(2) +g+%2B+b+=+48+
------------------
(2) +b+=+48+-+g+
Substitute (2) into (1)
(1) +g%2F%28+48+-+g+%29+=+2%2F1+
Multiply both sides by +48+-+g+
(1) +g+=+2%2A%28+48+-+g+%29+
(1) +g+=+96+-+2g+
(1) +3g+=+96+
(1) +g+=+32+
-----------------
You are asked for:
+%28+g+%2F+%28+g+%2B+b+%29+%29%2A100+ ( the percent of the class that are girls )
+%28+g+%2F+%28+g+%2B+b+%29+%29%2A100+=+%28+32+%2F+48+%29%2A100+
+%28+32%2F48+%29%2A100+=+%28+2%2F3+%29%2A100+
+%28+2%2F3+%29%2A100+=+66.67+
66.67% are girls
