You can put this solution on YOUR website! The ratio of land to water is 1:2 for the whole world, the above ratio is 2:3 for northern hemisphere.
what is the above ratio on the southern hemisphere?
:
Choose a convenient value that represents area of the whole world, 120 sq/units
then a ratio of 1:2, would mean
40 sq/units of land and 80 sq/units of water
:
then 60 sq/units represents one hemisphere
a ratio of 2:3 would mean
24 sq/units of land and 36 sq/units of water in the northern hemisphere
the southern hemisphere then
40 - 24 = 16 sq/units of land, and 80 - 36 = 44 sq/units of water (adds up to 60)
the ratio 16:44 can be reduced to 4:11 is the ratio in the southern hemisphere
