Since the ratio is 10:38, and 10+38=48
10%2F48 of the class is girls.
If x is the number of girls in the class, we have the following proportion:
10%2F48=x%2F25
We just now need to solve for x
10%2F48%2A25=x
x=5.208....
Obviously we cannot have 0.2 of a person. so we will say that there are 5 girls in the classroom.
