In a school having 990 students 12 out of 27 are girls.
Let x represent the total amount of girls in the class
12%2F27+=+x%2F990 |Cross Multiplying to solve
x = 12*990/27
x = 440, the number of girls. 550 boys (990-440)
CHECKING our Answer***
12/27 = 4/9 = 440/990 = 44/99 = 4/9

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If 12 out of 27 are girls,
then 15 out of 27 are boys.
There are 990 total.

15 boys / 27 total = x boys / 990 total {set up a proportion}
27x = 15(990) {cross-multiplied}
27x = 14,850 {multiplied 15 by 990}
x = 550

there are 550 boys
