Question 32852: 72 more females than males are enrolled in Archimedes High School. 60% of the students are female. What is the number of male students that are enrolled? Answer by sarah_adam(201) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the total Number of students be T
Let the female students be F
Let the male students be M
So First equation is T = M+F
But given THereare 72 more females then male so F = M+72
And also given 60% of the total are Females So F = 60% of T
therefore = M + 72
which gives us T =
But T = M + F = M + M + 72 = 2M +72
(5)*(M + 72) = 3* (2M +72)
5M + 360 = 6M + 216
6M-5M = 360 - 216
M = 144
F = M + 72 = 144 + 72 = 216
T = M + F = 144 + 216 = 360
Total number of students are 360
