You can put this solution on YOUR website! I think you made an error here.
The question states that 3 people worked but what about Bill's wife?
Bill + his wife + Christine + Max = 4 people
I will assume that you did not mistype anything.
Let M = the hours that Max worked.
==================================
Bill = 2(M + 5) + 3 hours
Christine = M + 5 hours
Max = M hours
All three worked 62 hours.
2(M + 5) + 3 + M + 5 + M = 62 hours
2M + 10 + 3 + 2M + 5 = 62 hours
4M + 18 = 62 hours
4M = 62 - 18 hours
4M = 44 hours
M = 44/4 hours
M = 11 hours
So, Max worked 11 hours assuming that Bill's wife did not work.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The other answer to this is absolutely correct, it's just that I had to respond because the person who answered it somehow managed to not understand English sentence structure and assumed "his wife, Christine" implied 2 people, when it in fact gives his wife the name Christine. But I'll put the process of solving here anyway.
If Max's hours worked = n, then
Christine's hours worked = n+5 and Bill's hours worked = 3+2(n+5)
so so so
