Regarding wording of this problem, I'd like to make one notice.
The English in this incoming post is perfect, but the content needs to be exposed/expressed in more precise form.
Below I explain what I mean.
As I read the problem about the later delivery, it is unclear, what this fragment means:
"an afternoon driver takes 1/6 of the cookies from that same bin".
One possible and the most expected interpretation is "1/6 of the remaining cookies".
Another possible interpretation is "1/6 of the original amount of cookies".
Tutor @greenestamps solves the problem using first interpretation.
But driven by my curiosity, I posted this problem to two Artificial Intelligence websites -
Google Overview and www.math-gpt.com/
They both interpret this fragment in the second way.
Both interpretations are valid,
but this only means that the problem, as it is worded in the post, is ambiguous:
it allows different interpretations, which leads to different solutions and different answers.
Therefore, my impression of this posted problem is as if I see a steam locomotive
at a railway station — well-oiled, cleaned, and gleaming, but missing one wheel.
