Question 1152357: a student wants a ratio of at least 0.84% on a test. if there are 25 problems on the test, what is the least number of problems the student needs to get right to get a ratio of at least 0.84%
reason why 21/25 is definetely not correct

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
did you mean 84% or did you mean .84%.
if you meant 84%, then .84% is equal to .0084
if you meant 84%, then 84% is equal to.84
25 is the total number of problems.
x is the number of correct solutions.
if the ratio is 84%, then the ratio is .84 and you get .84 = x / 25.
solve for x to get x = 25 * .84 = 21
if the ratio is .84%, then the ratio is .0084 and you get .0084 = x / 25.
solve for x to get x = 25 * .0084 = .21
i doubt you meant .84%.
if 84%, then 21 is the least number of problems that the student needs to have correct.
if you said the answer was 21/25, then that would not be correct because it's a ratio and not a number.
i believe the answer should be 21.
