Let x be the cost of the first bike for the man, 

and y be the cost of the second bike for the man.


From the condition we know that 

1.15x = 35000  and  1.2y = 35000.


Then  x = 35000%2F1.15 = 30434.78 dollars  and  y = 35000%2F1.2 = 29166.37.


Thus his overal percentage of profit  is  %28%282%2A35000%29%2F%2830434.78+%2B+29166.37%29-1%29%2A100 = 0.1745 = 17.45%.
