Perimeter is directly proportional so if the side doubles the perimeter doubles
The perimeter =4s, 8 cm for the first square and 16 for the second.
The area is proportional to the square of the side, so the area is 4 times as large for the second.
area of the first=s^2=4 cm^2; area of second is 16 cm^2, 4 times as much.
