Question 1006491: four children A,B,C and D divide a bag of sweets. A takes 1/3 of them, B 2/3 th of the reminder and the rest is equally shared between C and D. what fraction of the sweets did C or D get?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A takes 1/3 of 1 = 1/3 * 1 = 1/3.
that leaves 1 - 1/3 = 3/3 - 1/3 = 2/3.
B take 2/3 of 2/3 = 2/3 * 2/3 = 4/9.
that leaves 2/3 - 4/9 = 6/9 - 4/9 = 2/9.
C and D split the 2/9 evenly.
that leaves 1/9 for C and 1/9 for D.
you have:
3/9 for A
4/9 for B
2/9 for C and D
add them up and you get 9/9.
looks good.
