You can start with any one of those given lines and find the other 2 points. You are instructed to start with AB and find points D and C. Just to be different, so I won't do your work for you, instead of starting with AB and finding D and C, I'm going to start with line BC and then find points A and D. You will do yours exactly the same way, only you'll start with AB. Draw BC 4.5 cm long. Then open your compass 5.5 cm, the length of AB. Put the sharp point on point B and swing an arc like the red one below:Then open your compass 8.5 cm, the length of AC. Put the sharp point on point C and swing an arc like the green one below: Where those arcs intersect will be point A, and you can draw lines AB and AC. Open your compass 7 cm, the length of BD. Put the sharp point on point B and swing an arc like the red one below: Now open your compass 5 cm, the length of CD. Put the sharp point on point C and swing an arc like the green one below: Where those arcs intersect will be point D, and you can draw lines BD and CD. Finally draw AD That's the required quadrilateral. Yours will look like this only it will be rotated counter clockwise so that your line AB, that you'll start with will be at the bottom, instead of on the left side. Edwin
