Either identify the greatest common factor in numerator and denominator common to both, or completely factorize numerator and denominator and eliminate all common occurrences of factors.

Divide numerator and denominator by the greatest common factor (GCF) of both numbers. 

In this case, the GCF is 2

54 -----> 54÷2 = 27

28 -----> 28÷2 = 14
