Four parcels have a total weight of 22 Kgs. Parcel 1 is 4 times the weight of parcel 3. Parcel 4 is half the weight of parcel 2. If parcel 1 weighs 8 Kgs., how much does parcel 4 weigh.
I tried to work this out as follows and got stuck.
Parcel 1 = 8
parcel 2 = X
parcel 3 = 2
Parcel 4 = x/2
8+X+2+X/2 = 22
10+X+X/2 + 22
X+X/2 = 22-10
X+X/2=12

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Now combine them .
x+x/2=12
2/2x+1/2x=12
3/2x=12
or 1.5 x=12
or 1 1/2 x=12
x=8
x/2=4

Four parcels have a total weight of 22 Kgs. Parcel 1 is 4 times the weight of parcel 3. Parcel 4 is half the weight of parcel 2. If parcel 1 weighs 8 Kgs., how much does parcel 4 weigh.
I tried to work this out as follows and got stuck.
Parcel 1 = 8
parcel 2 = X
parcel 3 = 2
Parcel 4 = x/2
8+X+2+X/2 = 22
10+X+X/2 + 22
X+X/2 = 22-10
X+X/2=12

Let weight of parcel 4, be F
Then weight of parcel 2 is: 2F
Weight of parcel 1: 8 kg
Weight of parcel 3: 1%2F4 of parcel 1, or 1%2F4 of 8, or 2 kg
Altogether they weigh 22 kg, so we can say that:
F + 2F + 8 + 2 = 22
3F + 10 = 22
3F = 22 - 10
F, or weight of parcel 4 is: 12%2F3, or highlight_green%284%29 kg
You can do the check!!
