Question 775841: 3x/4-9=-6
3x/4 is a fraction. not a division sign.
I tried a similar problem which was 2x/3-5=7 and the book says the answer is 18, but i got 13. I divided 3 on both sides, then cancelled the 3 on the side with the variable and ended up with 2x-5=21. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x/4-9=-6
3x/4 is a fraction. not a division sign.
I tried a similar problem which was 2x/3-5=7 and the book says the answer is 18, but i got 13. I divided 3 on both sides, then cancelled the 3 on the side with the variable and ended up with 2x-5=21. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

2x%2F3+-+5+=+7

2x - 15 = 21 ------ Multiplying by LCD, 3

2x = 21 + 15

2x = 36

x = 36%2F2, or highlight_green%2818%29

You can do the check!!

You can now try to solve the 1st equation: 3x%2F4+-+9+=+-+6

You then do a check!!
