3 and 1/4 can be rewritten, how? multiply whole number (3) by the bottom (4) add the top (1) and the whole thing is over bottom (4) so
3 and 1/2 is the same as (3*4+1)/4=13/4 now we can multiply
%2811%2F8%29%2813%2F4%29=143%2F32+ so the answer is 4 and 15/32

Take it step by step. First convert the mixed number in the denominator to an improper fraction:
3 1/4 = 13/4, since 12/4 = 3 and there is 1/4 remaining for a total of 13/4
Since dividing by 13/4 is the same as multiplying by the reciprocal, we can write the quotient as
%2811%2F8%29%2F%2813%2F4%29+=+%2811%2F8%29%2A%284%2F13%29
We can divide the 4 into 8, leaving us with 11/26
