You can put this solution on YOUR website!
* Please note my original answer was incorrect. I was informed by the student that the instructor's textbook listed the answer as 11 schools. In order for there to be 11 schools, there must be 33 participants, which would make Erin, who finished the race in the middle, be in 17th place. However, the textbook said Kathlyn finished after Erin, in the 19th position. It was originally assumed by me, that she finished IMMEDIATELY after Erin, which would have put Kathlyn in the 18th position, not the 19th position. But, this couldn't be the case if there were 33 participants. I'm at a loss on how to solve this word problem without more information. :(
