4/3 + 2/3x = 31/12 + 5/4x + 3/4

use a  common Denominator of 12 and then solve for x

 16%2F12+%2B+%288%2F12%29x+=+31%2F12+%2B+%2815%2F12%29x+%2B+9%2F12

    -24%2F12+=+%287%2F12%29x

    -2+=+%287%2F12%29x

      x = -24%2F7
