(5/8)*m - 3/8 = (1/2)*m + 7/8
.
subtract (1/2)m from both sides
.
(5/8)m - (1/2)m -3/8 = 7/8
.
add 3/8 to both sides
.
(5/8)m -(4/8)m = 7/8 + 3/8
.
(1/8)m = 10/8
.
divide both sides by 1/8
.
m = (10/8) / (1/8) = 10/8 * 8/1 = 80/8 = 10
.
