Find a common denominator, in this case it is 12. Convert both fractions to a denominator of 12 by multiplying %283%2F4%29 by 3%2F3 and multiplying 1%2F6 by 2%2F2. You new equation looks like this:

Then add the numerators and keep the denominator the same:
11%2F12
