6x=9x-12 Subtract 12 from both sides.


6x-9x=-12 Subtract 9x from both sides.


-3x=-12 Combine like terms on the left side.

first work out the blackets
=......12+6x=9x
then make the like terms together
=.......12=9x-6x
.'.12=3x
divide both sides by 3
hence: x=4.
