Question 352751: Hello!
I would be most grateful if you could please tell me how to express in WORDS the fraction 1
-
n
Not being a mathematical whizz, I'm afraid I don't even understand what it means in English (!) but I have been asked by a Spanish teacher how to say this fraction in English.
I assume it's something like "1 over n" or "1 divided by n" but I'm really not sure.
I would really appreciate your help in this matter.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Samantha Green.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! "One over n" or "the reciprocal of n" are acceptable.
"One divide by n" although technically correct is not typically used.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Samantha,
The expression in words would be a quotient of 1 and n. :) Quotient means division. If you had x+5 that would be the sum of x and 5 or the sum of a number and 5. :)
