You certainly can use synthetic division to solve this problem. Whether you use synthetic division or long division you get the same answer of: highlight%28x%5E3%2B3x%5E2%2B3x%2B1%29 with a remainder of zero. This means that the divisor x%2B1 is a factor of x%5E4%2B4x%5E3%2B6x%5E2%2B4x%2B1.
The answer is not, as you have writen, %28x%5E3%2B3x%5E2%2B3x%2B1%29%2Fhighlight_green%28%28x%2B1%29%29
