The problem states,Solve for the unknown (x) in the following proportions:
1) 2/10 = 16/x x =
2) 7/30 = x/90 x =
Someone on this site did tell me that I need to cross multiply but I don't know how to write that on my paper and how it is suppose to look. If you could help me because I have a test soon and would really appreciate the help.

Then you can cross-multiply, by multiplying the numerator on one side times the denominator on the other side and setting that equal to the numerator on the second side times the denominator on the first side, like this:
