2x - 6 + 2x + 4 = 17
4x - 2 = 17
4x = 17+2
4x = 19
divide both sides by 4

(19/4 - 12/4)2 + (19/4 + 8/4)2 = 17
(7/4)2 + (27/4)2 = 17
