Absurdist formulation.

It is not a joke.
One more such FAKE problem, and I will write to the managers of this project
asking them to remove so called " composer " from his (or her) position.

This is written under the influence of writing by @robertb.
The problem clearly states that 1/3 of the assignment was finished between 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM,
but it says NOTHING when the work was started.
With such wording of the problem, we can not calculate any rate and can not make any estimations.
As I said, this problem is a FAKE.
It is ONLY good to throw it to a closest GARBAGE BIN
(and wash hands with a soap after that, TWICE).

You can put this solution on YOUR website! In fact, contrary to what one of the tutors mentioned below,
if the student finished 1/3 (one-third) of the assignment BETWEEN 6 pm and 7:30 pm (assuming same day),
then it will still be possible for him to turn the assignment in on time, working at the same rate as in the first third.
(Which basically says he worked at a constant rate through out.).
E.g., if 1/3 of the assignment was finished at 6:20 pm, then he would need just another 40 minutes to finish the job!
The issue arises is if he finished 1/3 of the assignment before but close to 7:30 pm.
That said, the FLAW of the problem is in the CHOICES.
If x = # hours from 6 pm 1/3 of the assignment was done, then
===>
the LATEST time in which the assignment could be turned in being 10:30 pm.

to ikleyn's comment's: My statement was in response to greenstamp's.
If the starting time was AFTER BUT CLOSE TO 6 pm, then that doesn't exclude the possibility of submitting on time, at all.
But as ikleyn pointed out, even if you don't know the starting time, if it was BEFORE BUT CLOSE to 6pm
then that still does NOT preclude submitting on time!
But I do agree that the problem is FLAWED.
