You can put this solution on YOUR website!

let two numbers be x and y, and let x be the larger number
given:
The sum of two numbers is sixty-five.
x%2By=65...solve for x
x=65-y.......eq.1
If the larger number is divided by the smaller number, then the quotient is three and the remainder is five.
x%2Fy=3+%2B5%2Fy..solve for x
x=3y+%2B5y%2Fy
x=3y+%2B5...............eq.2
from eq.1 and eq.2 we have:

Find the numbers3y+%2B5=65-y
3y+%2By=65-5
4y=60
y=60%2F4
highlight%28y=15%29
go back to x=65-y.......eq.1, plug in y value and find x
x=65-15
highlight%28x=50%29
so, your numbers are: highlight%28+50%29 and highlight%2815%29

check:
x%2By=65
50%2B15=65
65=65
x%2Fy=3+%2B5%2Fy
50%2F15=3+%2B5%2F15
50%2F15=3+%2B1%2F3
3.333333333333333=3+%2B0.333333333333333
3.333333333333333=3.333333333333333

The sum of two numbers is sixty-five.

Larger+Smaller = 65
        Larger = 65-Smaller

If the larger number is divided by the smaller number, then the quotient is
three and the remainder is five. Find the numbers.
                3
 Smaller)65-Smaller
         3×Smaller
         65-Smaller-3×Smaller = REMAINDER = 5

                      65-S-3S = 5
                        65-4S = 5
                          -4S = -60
                            S = 15

So Smaller = 15
and Larger = 65-Smaller = 65-15 = 50
