Question 1083709: Janet set off on a bicycle trip at 6:30am at an average rate of 24 miles per hour. Her husband bob promised to bring her some lunch, so he set off by car two hours after she left, driving at a average speed of 40 miles per hour. What time did bob catch up with Janet? You can put this solution on YOUR website! josgarithmetic has the correct equation and correct steps leading to the correct t value; however, 3 hours from 6:30 AM is not 11:30 AM. Instead the time should be 9:30 AM.
Edit: I wasn't thinking. The t value refers to the elapsed time after the husband left. He left at 8:30 AM. Three hours after that is 8:30+3 = 11:30 AM so josgarithmetic has the correct time. My apologies.
