You can put this solution on YOUR website!
%28x%2B3%29%2F%28x%5E2-x-2%29+-%28x%2B2%29%2F%28x-2%29
In order to add/subrtact fractions you need to have the same denominator.
The denominator of the first fraction
%28x%5E2-x-2%29
can be factored into
%28x%5E2-x-2%29=%28x%2B1%29%28x-2%29
If I multiply the numerator and denominator of the second fraction by (x+1), then I can subtract.
%28x%2B3%29%2F%28x%5E2-x-2%29+-%28%28x%2B1%29%28x%2B2%29%29%2F%28%28x%2B1%29%28x-2%29%29
%28x%2B3-%28x%2B1%29%28x%2B2%29%29%2F%28%28x%2B1%29%28x-2%29%29 Subtract numerators, same denominator.
Let's just look at the numerator now. Remember the denominator is %28x%2B1%29%28x-2%29
NUM=%28x%2B3-%28x%5E2%2B2x%2B1x%2B2%29%29 FOIL method (First, Outer, Inner, Last)
NUM=%28x%2B3-%28x%5E2%2B3x%2B2%29%29 Simplify.
NUM=%28x%2B3-x%5E2-3x-2%29 Distributive property.
NUM=%28-x%5E2-2x%2B1%29 Group like terms
NUM=-%28x%5E2%2B2x-1%29 Distributive property.
Now let's bring back the denominator
-%28%28x%5E2%2B2x-1%29%29%2F%28%28x%2B1%29%28x-2%29%29 Final answer.
