SET UP A RATIO (FRACTION)
50/4=400/X NOW CROSS MULTIPLY
50X=1600
X=1600/50
X=32 HOURS WOULD BE REQUIRED TO READ 400 PAGES.

she reads 1/8 of the book in 4hrs.
In 8*4hrs she can read the whole book.

you can set up a proportion:
50+%3A+4=+400+%3A+x
50+%3A+4+=+400+%3A+x
or
50+%2F4+=+400+%2F+x
50+%2Ax+=+400%2A4 divide both sides by 50
x+=+8%2A4
x+=+32 it would take Jo 32 hours to read 400 pages
