Question 178988: Suppose there is a test for a disease that correctly gives positive results for 95% of those having the disease, and correctly gives negative results for 90% of those who do not have the disease. Suppose also that the incidence of the disease is 1%. If a person tests positive for this disease, what is the chance that the person has the disease? Find the exact percentage.

Question 179815: I was wondering how to solve this problem.
4c=3d+3
c=d-1 4(d-1)=3d+3 = 4d-4=3d+3 subtract 3d to both sides d-4=3 Add 4 to both sides d=7 how do you post ?'s
I got at least this far:
4(d-1)=3d+3
But now, I dont know if I'm soposed to find out what the variables are first or distribute. If I distribute, I dont kno how to distribute this equation. Can you help me?

Question 198582: How would i graph x^2+2x-15>0 on a number line? I factored the equation to (x+5)(x-3)>0. than i solved for x and got x>-5 and x>3. so when i graphed it on a number line one starts at -5 and goes to the right and the other starts at 3 and goes to the right. The answer is suppose to be graphted with starting at the -5 and going to the left and starting with the 3 and going to the right. what am i missing. this question is not from a textbook. thanks

I need some help. I need help with the following problems:
1. Find the slope of the line that passes through the points (-4,1) and (3,5).
2. Find the equation in slope-intercept form, of the line that passes through the points (4,6) and (-7,-3); write the equation in slope-intercept form.
These just have me completely stumped. Any help will be appreciated.

Question 199808: Hello,
I am stuck again and at the end of my rope, please help me!! I need help with the following problems:
1) Find the equation, in standard form, of the line perpendicular to 2x + 3y = -5 and passing through (3,-5). Write the equation in standard form, with all integer coefficients.
2) Solve the system of equations using the substitution method. If the answer is a unique solution, present it as an ordered pair: (x,y). If not, specify whether the answer is "no solution" or "infinitely many solutions" and state how you arrived at that conclusion.
-7x + y = 4
2x + 8y = 0
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
