Question 893980: how do you draw a horizontal number line from 0 to 1 to represent 1/3, 1/4, 3/8, 3/4, 7/8, and 5/6?

Those are separate points on a number line. FIND THE COMMON DENOMINATOR and use the equivalent fraction to place each number.

Denominators found in your list are: 3,4,6,8;
so you need 2*2*2*3=24; raise each fraction to higher terms JUST to know where it will fit on the line. Let me skip showing the arithmetic for that and just say:

8/24, 6/24, 9/24, 18/24, 21/24, 20/24 correspond to your list in the way your list was ordered. In these higher terms, you can find which fraction fits where between 0 and 1 on the number line.
