Question 393517: A) Graph the system
B) Tell how many solutions the system has
C) Estimate the solution(s)
y=2x+2
y=-2x+6
My teacher said something about multiplying by zero, but I'm not sure if that was for a different graphing problem. I'm very confused...
Thanks in advance for your time and help. Answer by richard1234(7193) (Show Source):
The two lines have different slopes, so they intersect at one point.
No need to estimate the solution if we can easily find it. Adding the two equations, we get 2y = 8 --> y = 4. Substituting y = 4 into either equation we get x = 1, so (1,4) is the only solution.
